This is really an amazing question. As an amateur composer, I'd really struggle with answering that question and would love to hear what Mr. Coleman has to say.

For me, I suppose the intent of my own music is to bring forth personal satisfaction to my heart. I guess my desire was to always fullfil the yearning of my ears; to make music that brought tremendous satisfaction to my soul. My own compilations bring much joy to me, but the music between me and my two brothers is perhaps the best music that I have. There is a certain warmth that comes from making music with others; probably that improvisational aspect within unity of several peopla that makes "my/our" music something very unique and special. This music with my brothers would be classified as "better" than my own music where I wrote and composed the entire work exlusively.

Steve, what about you?

Simple answer (which I'm sure you know already) is to communicate what I can understand of who we are, the world, Nature, the Universe, etc. To tell stories. But based on your posts that I have seen here you already understand this. If you have more specific questions let me going.

Peace,

Steve
